About Me

My name is Christine, I am a mother of two and I love everything to do with pregnancy and birth. I’ve worked as a midwife for almost twenty years. Most of my career was spent on a Birthing Suite where I was so lucky to have supported hundreds of families in welcoming their babies. I use all the knowledge and skills I gained as a midwife and hypnobirthing teacher to ensure that I provide the very best and most current information regarding pregnancy and birth. This is presented in a clear and unbiased way so that you can make your own informed choices and take control of your birth. I passionately believe that all women should experience the best possible birth and that those who are well prepared, are the most likely to succeed.

I witnessed the benefits of hypnobirthing many times and was so impressed I decided to become a hypnobirthing teacher, training in KG Hypnobirthing with Katharine Graves the founder of The Hypnobirthing Association. Katharine’s approach is flexible and holistic. Her course has been developed to best suit the needs of pregnant women within the U.K. and is accredited by the Royal College of Midwives.

I love teaching hypnobirthing, to witness how it empowers, raises confidence and self belief is incredibly satisfying. We know that birth can be unpredictable so I don’t promise a pain free birth but I can promise that whatever twists and turns your birth presents you with, hypnobirthing will help you remain calm, positive and help you achieve the best birth possible.

My doula training with Nurturing Birth means that I can provide emotional and practical support during the antenatal period and through the birth itself, enabling parents to make informed choices about their care, signposting relevant research-based information and being a reassuring presence. Postnatally, I am able to provide support as the new mother learns how to respond to her baby’s needs, recovers from the birth and finds her feet.

As a result of the negativity and fear surrounding modern birth, I now facilitate The Positive Birth Movement Hull. This is a free peer support group that connects women, midwives, doulas (anyone with an interest in birth!) so that we can challenge all this negativity and fear by sharing stories, expertise, support and positivity about birth.

For almost 15 years I’ve been a member of the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists and I’ve practiced clinical aromatherapy and massage, specialising in pregnancy, birth and beyond. Both aromatherapy and massage offer huge health benefits for mums and their babies and can perfectly complement hypnobirthing.

More recently I’ve completed training with Mia Scotland and Mark Harris in Birth Trauma resolution using the Rewind Technique (recognised by NICE for dealing with trauma). This technique is quick, very effective and well tested.  It’s a technique that neutralises the disturbing feelings associated with trauma. Although the memory of the trauma persists it no longer provokes anxiety, guilt, anger, panic or sadness allowing the person to move forward with their life. I’m really excited to be able to offer this technique.
